Short answer:
No. They're more expensive than a traditional fiberglass boat, but similar in price to a high-quality aluminum boat while having several key advantages over aluminum. For that reason, most people will find them to be a better buy than a nice welded aluminum boat.
Longer Answer:
Yes and no. We have worked very hard to select materials and methods that make the biggest practical difference for our boats without needlessly increasing cost. We think the result speaks for itself, it's a better boat and a much better value.
Why do we say yes?
The initial purchase price of our boats will be higher than a similarly sized fiberglass boat.
What do we say no?
- Our boats should be cheaper for you in the long run. Our boats will last much longer than traditional fiberglass without needing the care and repair that is required for a traditional fiberglass boat if you want it to last. Here's an example: A crack in the gelcoat of a traditional fiberglass boat is a death-sentence for the boat if it isn't promptly repaired since the inside composite is not waterproof (What!? Yes it's true, look it up.) Our boats are made with epoxy so they don't have that problem. Our boats are also significantly lighter, and lighter boats save you gas in the water and on your trailer.
- Our boats are similar in price to a high-quality aluminum boat, but most people end up thinking our boats are a better value since they're lighter, stronger, quieter, non-conductive, and don't suffer from corrosion and cracks from metal fatigue like aluminum boats do. Sure, with aluminum boats you can hammer out that dent, but with our boats, you just won't have that dent in the first place. So go ahead, hit that log.
